Originally, the El Camino Theatre was built in 1928 in the grand manner of movie palaces. The décor was opulent, with wide sweeping stairways, chandeliers and gold-encrusted walls. As television replaced theatres the theatre was stripped of all its ornamentation and became a JC Penney store. The building was transformed to 30,000 square feet of retail and Class ‘A’ office space.
